David Ward
CMHC TherapistDavid is one of the Primary Therapists supporting the Care Counselor team at New Roads Behavioral Health. He has been working in the psychology field since 1996 as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor – he received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Westminster College and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Phoenix.
David has experience across the psychology spectrum from play therapy with children to adult locked inpatient units. He was also a psychiatric medical assistant for four years with Intermountain Health Care. Additionally, David was a Behavioral Health Specialist with Aetna health insurance and helped to design and integrate several of their behavioral health outreach programs. He worked as a mental health therapist and counselor in a wide variety of clinical practice settings before joining New Roads and brings a focused expertise to his clinical practice.
Using a short-term brief therapy model influenced by Motivational Interviewing with a high emphasis on client choice, David helps clients focus on opportunities and growth. With multiple years of experience in treating opiate and alcohol dependence, he hopes to offer a genuine understanding of the changes a client experiences on their path to healing.
