David is one of the Primary Therapists supporting the Care Counselor team at New Roads Behavioral Health. He has been working in the psychology field since 1996 as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor – he received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Westminster College and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Phoenix. 

David has experience across the psychology spectrum from play therapy with children to adult locked inpatient units. He was also a psychiatric medical assistant for four years with Intermountain Health Care. Additionally, David was a Behavioral Health Specialist with Aetna health insurance and helped to design and integrate several of their behavioral health outreach programs. He worked as a mental health therapist and counselor in a wide variety of clinical practice settings before joining New Roads and brings a focused expertise to his clinical practice.

Using a short-term brief therapy model influenced by Motivational Interviewing with a high emphasis on client choice, David helps clients focus on opportunities and growth. With multiple years of experience in treating opiate and alcohol dependence, he hopes to offer a genuine understanding of the changes a client experiences on their path to healing.
